Kate Moss is undeniably one the most recognizable style icons ever to hit the modeling world. In 1988, at the age 14, she was discovered at JFK Airport by Sarah Doukas, founder of Storm Model Agency, while waiting with her parents for flight back to the UK from New York City. Before long, she was serving as muse to photographer Corinne Day who captured Moss for the cover of The Face magazine in 1989.
Initially criticised for her controversial 'heroin chic' look, Moss' skinny frame spawned a resurgence of the grunge 'waif look'. At the time, it was a prerequisite for models to be curvaceous and tall but Kate's petite 5"7 height made her stand out from the crowd. After strutting the runway in Paris for a few years, her big break came in 1992 with a series of iconic ads for Calvin Klein alongside Mark Wahlberg. Appearing mostly nude and without any makeup, the campaign made her an international star. Moss soon joined Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, Claudia Schiffer and Linda Evangelista, as one of the most well known supermodels of the 1990s.
Even after two decades , Kate Moss remains of the most famous models of our time. Despite her sometimes-controversial personal life, Kate's captivating and glamourous cool-girl style is still untouchable even after all these years.
